I know you live a life of luxury,
But pause a moment, won't you, kindly?
The energy consumption continues to rise
Electricity bills soar to the sky,
Inflation rises, leaving us awry.
Shouldn't we play our humble part?
To spread awareness and waste not
As a nation, let us rise
To conserve energy, we shall surmise.
Now, let's discuss Neeca's noble quest,
An initiative that's crossed many a crest
Saving energy for times of strife,
Lowering bills and reducing life's strife,
Join hands with Neeca, let it rise,
Reserving energy for later,
Conserve energy and fulfill your role.
Asmara sat on a park bench, her gaze fixed upon the flowing tap, nourishing the plants. However, she noticed that no gardener was there. Glancing at the adjacent area, she observed the wet grass. Determined, she stood up and turned off the tap.She expressed her perplexity, saying, "I fail to understand why people neglect the importance of conserving our natural resources. Water is not easily accessible to everyone, especially in this area. It is our responsibility to take care of it."Leaving the garden, Asmara hummed a tune, singing, "Let's think smart and waste not."
As she entered her room, she promptly removed the curtains, turned off all the lights, and settled at her study table. She grabbed her diary from the drawer, placed it before her, took a pen, and started writing. "Yet another day dedicated to conserving energy and fulfilling my role as a responsible citizen of Pakistan. I often wonder why people fail to prioritize energy preservation. When the bills shoot up and inflation mounts, people begin complaining. Why don't they understand the significance of saving energy? Why don't they feel compelled to curtail energy waste?"A gentle knock at the door interrupted her thoughts, and her mother entered, placed a glass of milk on the table and switched on the lamp."Mom! There's already sufficient light in my room. I don't need this," she expressed, voicing her concern."The daylight in your room is not enough. It will strain your eyes," Asmara's mother insisted."No, Mom! It's healthier for my eyes to utilize natural light for studying," she responded confidently. "You know how much energy we waste just because we feel the need, but in reality, we're wasting it."Her mother nodded, acknowledging the validity of Asmara's words. "I understand what you're saying, but I'm curious as to why you've become so conscious about energy conservation. "Asmara stood up from her chair and gently made her mother to sit on the bed. "Mom, do you remember the seminar I attended last week, organized by Neeca?"Her mother recalled the event. "Yes, I remember how you came home and immediately turned off all the lights, emphasizing the importance of saving energy. It left quite an impression on us. "Asmara let out a chuckle, and spoke up. "Actually! Neeca focuses on energy conservation, a much-needed initiative in our country. They lead in implementing energy management systems to reserve and wisely utilize energy for essential purposes. What I appreciate the most is how they educate society and raise awareness through beneficial means, particularly during times of crisis. "Her mother smiled in agreement. "I love how deeply you think about these matters. Most people tend to overlook these things and only complain about inflation." Inspired by the conversation, Asmara rose from the bed and powered on her laptop. She navigated to the Neeca website, www.neeca.gov.pk, and clicked the "Save Energy" tab. While Opening the videos, she eagerly shared them with her mother."Look, Mom! They explain everything in tremendous detail, motives, guidance, information, and tips on using energy-friendly appliances and reducing energy consumption. And if someone wants to learn more about energy conservation and Neeca's initiatives, they can visit their YouTube channel, 'NEECA-Pakistan.' It's a treasure trove of valuable information on how to save energy and reduce electricity bills." "I would like to watch these videos too," her mother expressed. However, as she approached, the doorbell rang, interrupting their conversation. Her mother promptly got up and remarked, "I think the electrician has arrived for maintenance. "Mom, don't forget the motives of Neeca: installing energy-efficient devices," Asmara exclaimed loudly. Her mother reassured her, "Don't worry; I will take care of everything." With a smile, Asmara reopened her diary. "When installing anything, it is crucial to check if it is energy-efficient, useful, and capable of saving energy," she wrote. As her thoughts flowed, her phone beeped, indicating an incoming email. Intrigued by the subject, she swiftly opened the email."Congratulations, Miss Asmara! You have been shortlisted for the certificate." The news filled her with delight. Asmara looked at the "Soch smart, waste not" portrait hanging on her wall and smiled. She turned back to her diary, her pen gliding across the pages as she continued to write. "Winning isn't everything; not all efforts need recognition. In the beginning, everything takes time. Participating in every competition doesn't mean one must win. It becomes easier when we perceive everything as a challenge and an opportunity to learn something new."
She shut her eyes and softly recited a poem under her breath:
"Electricity shortage and soaring bills, No light, no gas, limited resources.
Inflation grips our necks, Yet we can't blame others for our actions;
When we lack sincerity towards our country,
We leave rooms with lights and fans on,
ACs on even when not in use,
Yes, it's our fault; we need to change, To abandon the blame culture,
We need to make individual efforts,
To conserve energy as much as we can,
Turning off appliances when not in use,
Unplugging chargers and devices, Embracing eco-friendly products,
And fulfilling our roles as respectful citizens
Neeca is here to play its part, But it's up to us to stand by its side, Supporting energy preservation and conservation
We must play our part,
And raise our heads as a united nation."
With renewed determination, she underlined the last line and closed her diary, and was ready to embrace the responsibility of making a positive change.
